Sound artist and film maker Daniel Hopkins releases minimal electronic works under the name Landcrash. With previous works appearing on Rural Colours, and elsewhere, Infinite/Journeys/Travels/Stories was created for the site specific live literature event Station Stories, curated at Manchester Piccadilly Station in 2010.
“Station stories explored the peculiar, unique qualities of railway stations; the waiting, the encounters, the thrill, the loneliness, the joy, the special essence of these in-between worlds, where anything can happen and often does.”
Hopkins collected field recordings from the station, creating soundscapes to accompany the live performance focused around them. These tracks provide snapshots of the station environment; the people, and events within it. The result is an intriguing listening experience, carrying a strong sense of place, but also of movement and life being transient.

What are film festivals? What are they; I think everyone knows that a film festival is place to see films. This might be new ones, or classic ones. I think there is a lot of confusion among filmmakers about what they are? And what they are there for. I a

We’re excited to announce the venue for the debut No/Gloss film festival in Leeds 2012.
It is not the kind of film festival with red carpets, pompous critics and pretention. It is not going to be held in an over the top hotel or expensive hall. We’re keeping things simpler, grittier (and we think more fun) in former Victorian pie factory Wharf Chambers.
::About the Venue ::
Workers co-operative Wharf Chambers is located on the ground floor of a Victorian former pork pie factory in the heart of Leeds city centre. Showcasing an array of DIY clubnights and events, Wharf Chambers celebrates the unconventional and underground Leeds scenes bubbling underneath the surface.
No/Gloss handpicked the location, happy that its eccentricities would nurture our films and film-makers, whilst creating a backdrop of superb architectural history to the event. No/Gloss aims to celebrate unconventional film-making by local and international independent producers and directors. We want to showcase films that have been created with little or no budget, and that challenge the current industry norms and standards. It’s a platform for art that isn’t compromised by big names, big brands or big budgets.
Weekend tickets are just £10, and day tickets are £6.50 www.noglossfilmfestival.co.uk/tickets-on-sale
